What we see in Superior homes

Rebuilt homes, brand-new systems. The Marshall Fire on December 30, 2021 destroyed 378 homes in Superior, according to Boulder County's damage assessment, including the whole Sagamore neighborhood and much of Original Town. The rebuilt homes have new furnaces, heat pumps, or both. New equipment still needs a clean filter and a seasonal check, and the first few winters are when installation problems tend to show up.

Smoke-affected homes that didn't burn. Dozens more Superior homes were damaged but not destroyed. Smoke and ash can settle in supply and return ducts. Whole-home duct cleaning — supply and return runs, registers and grilles, and a system run-check when we're done — is one of our core services.

Rock Creek and Original Town. Much of Rock Creek went up in the 1990s and 2000s, so some homes still run original equipment. Original Town began as a coal-mining town; the mine closed in 1945. Superior sits around 5,500 feet where the foothills meet the plains, and strong west winds drift snow against outdoor units and furnace vents.

Common questions

Do you serve all of Superior?

Yes — the whole Town of Superior, including Original Town, Rock Creek, and Sagamore. Send your zip with the request so we can confirm a window.

Our rebuilt home has a heat pump and a furnace. Which one runs when?

That's a dual-fuel system. The heat pump handles milder weather and the furnace takes over when it gets colder, based on how the thermostat or control is set. If the house can't keep up, see the heat pump FAQ and request a visit.

Should we clean the ducts in a home that had smoke damage?

If smoke or ash got into the house, the ducts are worth checking. Our whole-home duct cleaning covers the supply and return runs, registers and grilles, and a system run-check when we're done.
