What we see in Centennial homes

A young city with older houses. Centennial incorporated on February 7, 2001 — at the time the largest incorporation in U.S. history — out of unincorporated Arapahoe County areas including Southglenn and Castlewood. The neighborhoods themselves are decades older than the city name. That means plenty of second- and third-generation furnaces and AC units running on the ductwork the house was built with.

Two stories and a finished basement. A lot of Centennial houses are two-story homes with a finished lower level on a single system and one thermostat. Upstairs runs warm, the basement runs cold, and the furnace gets blamed. Usually it's airflow: closed registers, a starved return, or a filter that's overdue.

Higher and drier than downtown. Centennial sits around 5,700 feet, a few hundred feet above downtown Denver. Winter air here is dry, which is hard on wood floors and sinuses, and it's why whole-home humidifiers are one of the installs we do. A humidifier goes on the furnace — it is not a tabletop tank.

What we fix in Centennial

  • Heating: no heat, short cycling, noisy blowers, furnaces that light and then quit.
  • Cooling: warm air, iced coils, dead capacitors.
  • Tune-ups: heating inspection, filter check, safety test, written findings — quoted per visit.

Common questions

Do you serve all of Centennial?

Yes — both sides of I-25, from Southglenn and Willow Creek to the neighborhoods farther east. Send your zip with the request so we can confirm a window.

The furnace smells dusty the first time it runs in the fall. Is that a problem?

A light dusty smell for the first few minutes of the season is dust burning off the heat exchanger. If it lasts, smells like burning plastic or wiring, or you smell gas, shut the furnace off and request a visit — and follow the gas safety steps above.

Should I replace my 20-year-old furnace?

Only if the one you have is actually done. We repair first. If replacement is the honest path, you'll get numbers and time to think.
